Soil Health First
We feed the soil, not the plant. Using compost (3-5 tons/ha) and green manure crops, we build organic matter that naturally nourishes the rice. Result: 2.2 tons of Carbon sequestered per hectare annually.
Sustainable rice farming is a return to wisdom, enhanced by science. A living ecosystem, not a factory.

Sustainable organic rice farming views the farm not as a factory, but as a living ecosystem. At Agriko, true sustainability means leaving the land better than we found it.
Our methods regenerate soil health, restore biodiversity, and ensure that farming remains a viable livelihood for future generations. Here is the evidence.
Seven core principles that work together to create a resilient ecosystem.
We feed the soil, not the plant. Using compost (3-5 tons/ha) and green manure crops, we build organic matter that naturally nourishes the rice. Result: 2.2 tons of Carbon sequestered per hectare annually.
We use Alternate Wetting & Drying (AWD). Instead of continuous flooding, we let the soil dry periodically - saving water and cutting methane emissions. Result: 30% reduction in water usage (6,000 cubic meters saved).
We rely on natural predators - ducks, spiders, dragonflies - to control pests, rather than chemical sprays. Result: 80% pest reduction without a drop of pesticide.
We rotate rice with legumes and cover crops. This breaks pest cycles and naturally replenishes nitrogen in the soil.
We plant hedgerows and maintain wetlands to support birds, frogs, and beneficial insects - creating a balanced food web.
Our farming methods actively remove CO2 from the atmosphere and store it in the soil, making our rice climate-positive.
Sustainability includes economics. By reducing input costs and selling premium organic rice, our farmers earn significantly more. Result: +129% higher net income for organic farmers.
| Factor | Sustainable (AWD) | Conventional |
|---|---|---|
| Water Usage | 30% Less | High Baseline |
| Methane Emissions | 40% Reduction | High Output |
| Yield | Equal or Higher | Standard |
| Input Costs | Low (Natural) | High (Chemical) |
| Soil Health | Improves Yearly | Degrades Yearly |
A side-by-side look at how different farming methods stack up.
Transitioning to organic is not easy. Here is how we overcome the hurdles.
Real World Impact
★★★★★
When I started in 2012, people said I was crazy. Twelve years later, my soil is healthier, my costs are lower, and I make 129% more profit. But the best part? My children can play in the fields without fear.
